Collection of six letters primarily related to various seafaring merchants, dated between 1752 and 1798. Letter of September 18, 1752, from merchant Michael Bland to a shipping house related to shipping goods with Captain Kembell of the 'London' and Captain Richards of the 'Swan.' Letter of June 6, 1754, sent from London to Rhode Island, citing Captain Pinniger of the 'Prince Sherbro' and describing various goods, including velvet waistcoats, Corsica wine, and raisins. Letter of December 12, 1767, in part: "We learn with sorrow your disappointment in the voyage of your brig Othello, Capt. Samuel Vernon, June to Hispaniola & her second departure for thence Amsterdam which we hope may be successful to retrieve the first disappointment we observe the departure of your brig Ciero." Letter of September 10, 1793, in part: "Captain Peterson has onboard for you two sheets of copper…I hope Capt. Bliss handed you the shells immediately on his arrival & that they were acceptable." Letter of April 27, 1794, from attorney Sam Brown to his client William Vernon, in part: "I have received by Capt. Huntington your favor of the 24 carrying letters from Capt. Chace dated at Havanah." Letter of September 17, 1798, in part: "I wrote you…and inclosed one hundred five dollars New Emission money belonging to the estate of Capt. Hammond, which I requested might be disposed of, together with the Public Securities in your hands belonging to said estate, as soon as it could be done."
