Robert Walpole

First Earl of Orford (1676–1745). British statesman regarded as being the first Prime Minister of Great Britain, who served during the reigns of George I and II. Manuscript DS , signed “Walpole,” one page, 8.25 x 10, February 16, 1729. Treasury order for a payment of £89.14 to Walpole for official services rendered as the “Ranger and Keeper of his Majs Park at Richmond.” Signed in the right border by Walpole. Matted and framed to an overall size of 11.25 x 15.25. In very good condition, with paper loss to right edges, ink cancellation through center of text, and scattered light soiling and dampstaining. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
