Unflown shuttle window. Manufactured by Corning Glass Co., this very heavy middle pane for a forward window measures 32.5 x 22, is 1.3″ thick, with a Rockwell specification number printed along one edge. Made of low expansion fused silica glass, NASA’s June 1988 National Space Transportation Reference refers to the uniqueness of the windows stating this is the ‘thickest piece of glass ever produced in the optical quality for see-through viewing.’ In fine condition. Each shuttle window consisted of three separate panes: the inner pressure pane, a middle redundant pressure pane, and an outer thermal pane. An unflown, but flight ready item. Due to the weight of this item, additional shipping charges may apply. Window was originally acquired as surplus from a Space Shuttle contractor. RR Auction COA.
