Description

Bobby races down a Georgetown street to catch a football his wife Ethel is about to throw, with John and Jackie in the background

Original first-generation 10 x 8 glossy photo of Bobby Kennedy running down a Georgetown street preparing to catch a football to be thrown by Ethel, as John and Jackie Kennedy look on. Reverse of photo bears a Three Lions Inc. stamp. In fine condition, with some scattered light spotting to finish. According to photographer Orlando Suero, even a casual football toss was cause for competition between the Kennedy boys: ‘It was definitely a case of ‘Playing isn’t enough—Winning is everything!’’ While Ethel shared in their competitive games, Jackie remained on the sidelines, ‘too much a lady.’ (Quoted from Camelot at Dawn, Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001.)
