Description

“I have never been able to trace the family tree too far”

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 10.75, Cleveland Indians letterhead, June 4, 1958. Letter to Isabel Speaker of California. In part: “I will be unable to enlighten you as to whether or not there is any relation with your family. My father and his people came from Ohio in the early days of Texas pioneering, and I have never been able to trace the family tree too far, so I can’t give you any further information. Although the name is unusual, I haven’t found anyone who has been able to establish any relation with my family and theirs. However, I think there is nothing wrong in having relatives, and would like to know about it.” Affixed to a same-size scrapbook page. In fine condition, with a paperclip impression to the upper left corner and a couple small areas of subtle foxing. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
