Edward Everett

American statesman (1794–1865) renowned for his oratory, best remembered for giving the speech preceding Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Civil War–dated ALS, one page both sides, 4.5 x 7, June 22, 1864. Letter to a judge. In part: “I hope I have not taken too great a liberty in enclosing to your care, together with copies for yourself & your father, copies of the pamphlet containing the speeches at our…festival.” In fine condition.
