Extremely rare letter of an important early French writer

Sister of King Francis I of France (1492-1549), also known as Marguerite of Navarre, she was a major author and poet who became an outstanding figure of the French Renaissance. Manuscript LS in French, signed with autograph subscription “your good friend, Marguerite,” one page, 8 x 9.25, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, March 5, 1523, countersigned by chancellor Victor Brodeau, address on verso. To the first President of the Parliament of Paris Jean de Selve to recommended particular attention to the case of Madame de Soubize, whose file “should be the first to be put over your desk.” In fine condition, with three horizontal storage folds, tiny binding holes along left edge, and an area of paper loss to lower left corner. An extremely rare French literary and historical autograph. According to our research, only one example has been offered in the last 35 years. RR Auction COA.
