Selman Waksman

Inventor, biochemist, and microbiologist (1888–1973) who discovered streptomycin, the first antibiotic effective against tuberculosis; for this he was awarded the 1952 Nobel Prize in Medicine. TLS signed “Selman A. Waksman,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Rutgers University letterhead, October 20, 1970. Response to an admirer. In part: “I am in receipt of your recent letter and greatly appreciate your sending me the various cards and pictures…Please extend my very best wishes to your pupils.” In fine condition.
