Jazz violinist (1909–1967) who is considered one of jazz music's preeminent violinists of the swing era. Uncommon vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 photo of Smith in a checked jacket and top hat and playing his violin, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “Sincerely yours, ‘Stuff’ Smith, The Onyx, N. Y. ’36.” In very good condition, with heavy creases and tack holes to upper corners (which could be easily matted out due to the photo’s composition), and a few scattered surface impressions.
