Description

Mildred Bailey

One of the most popular female vocalists of the 1930s, but despite all of her success, superstardom eluded her. Plagued by a combination of diabetes, heart trouble, and hardening of the arteries, she was near death and broke until she was rescued by composer Jimmy Van Heusen, who arranged to split her medical bills with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Eddie & Fannie—In appreciation for your lovely interview. I enjoyed it—Mildred Bailey.” In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
