Lunar receiving laboratory stainless steel containment vessel, approximately 7 x 8, designed to hold moon rocks upon their return to earth. This two-piece vessel has seven bolts which attach the two parts together, as well as a carrying handle to top portion. Both pieces are etched with serial numbers X3-3-27, with the bottom stamped “Vollrath, Sheboygan, Wis.” A heavy-duty vessel such as this would have been used to store lunar samples under vacuum within the Lunar Recceiving Laboratory. In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
