Extremely rare membership card for the 1959–60 season at the Casbah Coffee Club, measuring 4.5 x 3.5 closed, filled out inside with the information of a Liverpudlian patron, and dated June 2, 1960. In fine condition, with two blue ink marks to the front and trivial edge toning. Accompanied by letters of authenticity from Tracks and from noted Beatles expert Perry Cox. The Casbah Club was owned by Mona Best—drummer Peter Best’s mother—and situated at Hayman’s Green, West Derby, Liverpool. The ‘Quarrymen’ played seven consecutive Saturday night performances at the venue in 1959 and the ‘Beatles’ played at the club twice in 1960. The Club charged half a crown annually for membership to keep out ‘rough elements,’ and the Quarrymen’s Saturday night shows became so popular that queue to enter flowed down the street. An exceptional relic from one of the Beatles’ very first and most intimately associated venues. RR Auction COA.
