American industrialist and politician (1824–1893) who cofounded the Central Pacific Railroad and later established Stanford University. Partly-printed DS three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.5 x 14, August 23, 1878. Quit claim deed between the Central Pacific Rail Road Company and Thomas Spence for 160 acres of land sold for $1280 dollars payable to Spence. Signed on the second page by Stanford as the company’s president.
