ALS in German, one page, 8.25 x 10.5, 1952. Schweitzer writes to Rev. Walter Donald Kring at the First Unitarian Church in Worcester, Massachusetts. In part (translated): “I received the program of your lectures in which three of my works were reviewed. May I tell you how much I was touched that my thoughts are valuable to you and that you want to help make them known. Such sympathetic understanding in my old age is something I never expected. I knew that my ideas on the life of Jesus and on ethics and culture would gain recognition, but not while I lived. I am, at present, busy working in the hospital and do not have time to write, but I hope to write again, as soon as the three doctors have familiarized themselves with the hospital work.” Schweitzer has also signed as part of his return address at upper right. In very good condition, with five spots of toning from adhesive on reverse, one affecting the return address signature, and central horizontal and vertical folds.
