Timothy Otis Howe

US senator (1816–1883) who also served as postmaster general under Chester A. Arthur. Scarce manuscript subscription form, signed “T. O. Howe,” one page, lightly-lined, 8 x 12.5, March 28, 1871. An order form for copies of his speech “on the subject of San Domingo delivered in the United States Senate.” Signed on the first line by Howe and signed by an additional 25 senators, including Matthew H. Carpenter, O. P. Morton, and Frederick A. Sawyer. In good condition, with a couple of small tape repairs, several partial fold separations, scattered toning and ink blotches, rough left edge, and several notations. RR Auction COA.
