Negotiating royalties for ‘Never Again Will I Knock on Your Door’

DS, signed “Hank Williams,” one page, 8.5 x 13, December 11, 1946. Fabulous royalty contract between the singer and Acuff-Rose Publication for the song ‘Never Again Will I Knock on Your Door.’ In part: “The writer hereby warrants that he is the owner of 100% interest in the legal and equitable title to the above named number…In consideration of this agreement, the Publisher agrees to pay to the Writer, in respect of said musical composition the following: Should the number be published in regular sheet music form, a royalty of Three cents per copy for each copy of such regular sheet music…A royalty of 50% percent of all receipts of the Publisher in respect of any licenses issued authorizing the manufacture of parts of instruments serving to mechanically reproduce said composition…A royalty of 50% percent of all foreign royalties…and 50% percent of all net sums received by the Publisher in respect of the use of said number in any folio or composition work.” In fine condition, with light creasing and wrinkling, uniform toning, and two file punch holes at the top border. Excellent association between country music’s greatest songwriter and one of his best known titles. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
