Description

Original 1962 Astrid Kirchherr uninscribed band portrait with new drummer Ringo Starr

Outstanding original vintage glossy 6.5 x 8.5 full-length photo of the band taken in November 1962 by Astrid Kirchherr, boldly signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint, “Paul McCartney xxx,” “John Lennon xxx,” “George Harrison xxx,” and “Ringo Starr xxx.” In very good condition, with some scattered creases, none affecting the amazing signatures, and scattered light surface marks, creases, and impressions from signatures on reverse to image side. Signatures were acquired at the Queen’s Theatre in Blackpool, Lancashire in the summer of 1963 given to a gentleman who helped the band take their equipment into the venue. Accompanied by two letters of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, both dated April 28, 2013, one authenticating the signatures and the other appraising the photo. Also included is a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Perry Cox. One of the earliest known images of the final incarnation of the band, as Ringo had accepted an offer to join the band in August of 1962. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
