Major General in the US Marine Corps (1881–1940) nicknamed ‘The Fighting Quaker,’ who at the time of his death was the most decorated Marine in US history, and is one of only 19 people to twice receive the Medal of Honor. Personal check, 8.25 x 3, filled out and signed by Butler, “Smedley D. Butler,” payable to E. Z. Dimitman for $3.23, February 18, 1939. A vertical fold and cancellation holes over first name and middle initial of signature, otherwise fine condition. This check is made out to and endorsed on the verso by E. Z.
