Description

Samuel P. Heintzelman

Prominent general (1805–1880) who was wounded in the First Battle of Bull Run, but soon recovered. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Heintzelman in uniform, signed in the lower border in black ink, “S. P. Heintzelman, Major Genl.” Published by Alexander Gardner of Washington, and bears a two-cent revenue stamp affixed to reverse. In fine condition, with clipped corner tips (not affecting the image or signature). Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
