Description

William L. Ames

Union soldier who served as a lieutenant in a regiment of the US Colored Troops. Civil War–dated partly-printed DS, signed “Wm. L. Ames,” one page, 9.75 x 7.75, November 7, 1864. A “Descriptive List and Account of Pay and Clothing of Willis Spate,” a black soldier who deserted his regiment, listing his personal details and an amount drawn from his clothing account. Docketing to reverse contains further details regarding the history of the soldier in question. Light overall toning and slight chipping to edges, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
