Statesman (1812–1881) who is most famous for being one of the most colorful mayors in the history of New York City. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he recommended that New York secede and become a ‘free city.’ Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite three-quarter-length portrait of Wood, signed in the lower border in black ink.
