Confederate sympathizer and member of the prominent 19th century Booth theatrical family (1838–1865) who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite half-length portrait of Booth posing with a cane in his lap, with a printed signature in the lower border. Published by Merrill & Crosby of Farmington, Maine, from an Alexander Gardner negative. Slight rippling to edges and a ding to the lower border, otherwise fine condition. RR Auction COA.
