Roald Amundsen

Norwegian explorer (1872–1928) who navigated the Northwest Passage, fixed the position of the North Magnetic Pole, and was the first to reach the South Pole. Amundsen disappeared during a flight to rescue fellow explorer Umberto Nobile who became lost returning from the North Pole. Ink signature, “Roald Amundsen,” on an off-white 4.25 x 2.5 slip affixed to an identical size slip, with a collector’s notation reading, “Signed summer 1910 for Mr. Charles Singer’s collection.” Two vertical creases, a few wrinkles, and some toning from adhesive on reverse, otherwise fine condition.
