Description

King George IV

King of Great Britain and Ireland (1762–1830) from 1820 to his death. The eldest son of George III, he alienated his subjects with his prodigious spending and contemptuous treatment of his wife, Queen Caroline, whom he refused to admit to his coronation. Partial partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R,” one page, 1820–21. The king appoints Henry Poole to the position of Second Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Artillery, signed at the top in black ink. In very good condition, with trimmed top and right edge, intersecting folds, and scattered light foxing. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
