Royal Navy officer and Arctic explorer (1786–1847) who perished, along with his entire crew, along the Northwest Passage. Ink signature, “John Franklin,” on an off-white 5.25 x 2 slip clipped from a larger document, with a small paper seal to right of signature. In fine condition, with some light dampstaining to lower left, none affecting the signature, and some light show-through from writing on reverse. RR Auction COA.
