Nobel Prize–winning Irish dramatist and critic (1856–1950) who takes a place among the most distinguished and influential literary figures of his time. Unusual typed manuscript of an unidentified ‘Preface’ or letter supposedly written by Shaw, seven pages, 8 x 10.25, signed on the first page in red ink, “This is a childish forgery—obviously, G. B. S., 25/8/36.” The faked manuscript is written as a letter to an aspiring poet, containing various thoughts on poetry, writing, and politics. Three fragile horizontal mailing folds and binding holes to the left border, otherwise fine condition. A unique item that demonstrates Shaw’s feisty personality.
