“I would like to give my lecture—‘Woman wants bread; not the ballot’…My terms may be $50”

ALS, one page both sides, 5.5 x 8.25, National Woman Suffrage Association letterhead, March 25, 1876. Letter to an unidentified gentleman. In full: “I would like to give my lecture—‘Woman wants bread; not the ballot’—in your place late in April or early in May—My terms may be $50—If you, or any reliable party wish the lecture—please write me by earliest mail—to care of Mr—Ira Howe Ottawa—Ill—and I will give you a date by return mail.” Letter is cloth-matted and framed with a portrait of Anthony to an overall size of 15 x 12.75, and that frame is hinged to a larger frame for an overall size of 20.25 x 18.5. In fine condition, with a light diagonal crease. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
