English author and poet (1866–1947). ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.75 x 5, October 14, 1919. Letter to Mr. McDonough, apparently a book seller. In part: “I am indeed ashamed to have kept you waiting so long for this…in our future dealings, will endeavour to be more prompt.” The second page bears a lengthy postscript which reads, “If you, at any time, have any books dealing with pirates, buried treasure &c. . . I shd. like to know about them—as I am engaged on a new 'yarn' dealing with such matters. And—would you please send your last catalogue to me, at above address?” Mounting remnants along reverse of second page and some mild toning to left edge of first page, otherwise fine condition. RR Auction COA.
