Bayard Taylor

American poet, literary critic, translator, and travel author (1825–1878) who is probably best known for his translation of Goethe’s Faust. ALS, one page, 5 x 8, July 5, 1865. Letter to a gentleman. In part: “I accepted the invitation of a gentleman in Minneapolis, to have a tour of from 30 to 40 lectures arranged for me, in the month of October and beginning of November. This will be all the lecturing I shall do, the coming season.” In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
