Supreme Court: Thomas Johnson

Jurist (1732–1819) who served as the first governor of Maryland and was later appointed to the Supreme Court by George Washington, serving from 1792 to 1793. Manuscript DS, signed “T. Johnson,” one page, 8 x 3.5, September 24, 1784. Financial document regarding a bond of £741.2.8, approved at the conclusion by Johnson. In very good condition, with a central horizontal fold, overall soiling, and a few edge tears (none affecting the bold signature). RR Auction COA.
