ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 6.75, The Temple, Chicago letterhead, September 9, 1895. Letter to a gentleman. In part: “I appreciate very highly the honor of the invitation…at the time you name I expect to be engaged in court in Philadelphia in an important legal hearing for which I am now making my preparations.” In fine condition. At the time of this letter, Lincoln was employed as general counsel of the Pullman Palace Car Company, which was still fighting legal battles from the massive Pullman Strike of the year before. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
