ALS signed “B. T. Washington,” one page, lightly-lined both sides, 5.75 x 9, Tuskegee Normal School letterhead, December 1, 1883. Letter to Miss Gillett. In part: “I send you one of our reports which will give you an idea of what we are doing. I go North next week to speak with Gen. A. at a series of meetings in the interest of Tuskegee. I send you more than one report that you may give them to friends who helped us through you.” In fine condition, with central horizontal and vertical folds, with vertical fold through first initial of signature. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Washington’s hand. Washington handwritten letters are notoriously scarce, this being just one of a scant handful we have offered.
