Hollywood’s tragic crooner (1908–1934) who was killed in a peculiar incident when a friend accidentally set off a firearm, discharging a bullet that ricocheted off the table and hit Columbo in the forehead; at the time of his death, he was romantically involved with Carole Lombard. Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 portrait of Columbo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Mildred Nelson, Best always, Russ Columbo.” In very good condition, with six small circular holes and a few light creases.
