Description

Gutzon Borglum

Distinguished American sculptor (1867–1941) best known for his monumental work at Mount Rushmore. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Borglum’s 1912 female torso sculpture, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Nina Cullinan, Sincerely yours, Gutzon Borglum,” labeling the statue, “Marble, ‘The Martyr.’” In fine condition, with slight silvering to dark areas of the image. Cullinan was a prominent philanthropist and patron of the arts in the Houston area. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
