Copland signs on to score The North Star, which would earn him an Oscar nomination

DS, eleven pages, 8.5 x 11, September 4, 1943. Agreement between Copland and Crescent Productions “for you to render your exclusive sevices for us as composer, musical director, musical adviser, and orchestra conductor in connection with the production of our photoplay now entitled ‘North Star,’ and you hereby accept such employment.” Agreement also states the studio will have the right to change and add to the music as it sees fit, and will pay Copland $500 per week for a minimum of 20 weeks. Signed on the last page by Copland as well as a studio executive. Punch holes and staples to top edges, some mild toning, and expected document wear, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
