Classen was a B17 pilot in the 11th bomb group and flew 49 missions out of Guadalcanal. In 1945, he was Deputy Group Commander of the 509th under Paul Tibbets. Three items: A printed poem entitled ‘High Flight,’ 8.5 x 11, signed at the bottom in pencil; a glossy 8 x 10 photo of Classen in uniform, signed in blue felt tip; and a complete sheet of 36 commemorative postage stamps, signed in the lower corner in pencil.
