King George III

Manuscript DS, signed “George R,” one page both sides, 8 x 12.5, September 4, 1761 (the first full year of his reign). Citing ill health, King George allows Captain Phineas John Edgar to “retire upon his full pay of ten Shillings per diem during his natural life.” The DS further states that the payment is to be made to him from the funds already set aside for the regiment, “from the pay of the youngest Captain.” Signed at the top by King George and countersigned at the conclusion by Charles Townshend. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
