N., Commander,” one page, lightly-lined, 7.75 x 9.75, US Gunboat New Era, St. Louis, November 14, 1861. Letter to Major R. Allen. In full: “Please do me the favor to turn over to the Gun Boat New Era for her use one of the Steam Tugs—now under the charge of Mr. Adams.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (separations to lower fold), and mild scattered creases and toning.
