Partly-printed DS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 15.25 x 10, June 23, 1880. President Hayes appoints “Edward H. Wright to be a Commissioner, under and by virtue of the act of Congress ‘to provide for celebrating the one hundredth anniversary of the treaty of peace and the recognition of American independence, by holding an international exhibition of arts, manufactures, and products of the soil and mine, in the City of New York.” Matted to an overall size of 18.5 x 15.5.
