Manuscript DS, in Spanish, signed “A. L de Sta. Anna,” one page, 10 x 16.25, June 20, 1853. Appointment reads, in part (translated): “In recognition of the merits and services of Citizen Francisco Cornejo, I have seen fit to appoint him to the position of Comptroller of the principal of the Income Protection Administration of the District and State of Mexico, a post which is vacant because it is newly established, with a salary of seven hundred and twenty pesos per year…Therefore, I command whomever shall have said Citizen Francisco Cornejo as said Comptroller of the principal Income Protection Administration of the District and State of Mexico…the person in question be given the aforementioned post and that the salary referred to above be deposited in his name.” Signed at the conclusion by Santa Anna, next to the intact and ornate paper seal with eight ‘petals’ extending from the center, and countersigned by Martinez del Campo and A. DeGaray. Matted and framed with a portrait of Santa Anna and a small plaque to an overall size of 27.25 x 26. Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, a bit of scattered light toning, and Santa Anna’s signature a couple shades light, but completely legible, otherwise fine condition.
