Partly-printed DS, signed “M. Van Buren Atty Gen,” one page, 7.5 x 12, October 1816. Supreme Court of New York legal document for the case of the state versus William W. Douglas over the non-payment of a two hundred dollar loan stating that Douglas “yet refuse, to the damage of the said people of two hundred dollars.” Signed at the conclusion by Van Buren as the state’s Attorney General. Double-suede-matted and framed, so both sides may be viewed, to an overall size of 14 x 18. This frame is in turn affixed to a larger frame by hinges, along with a framed engraved portrait of Van Buren, to an overall size of 46.25 x 33.
