Not long after her divorce from Arthur Miller, at the beginning of February 1961, Marilyn entered the Payne-Whitney Clinic in New York at the suggestion of her psychiatrist. Surprised at the security and restrictions of the hospital, she used one of her limited phone calls to Joe DiMaggio in Florida, who arranged Marilyn's discharge, and placed her in Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. She remained there for three weeks, emerging healthier and in a better state of mind. RR Auction COA.
