Renowned Russian opera singer (1873–1938) regarded as the foremost bass of his era. LS signed “F. Chaliapin,” one page, 6 x 9.5, Hotel Majestic letterhead, New York, November 17, 1925. Letter to “Miss Watkins.” In full: “It was very kind of you to send me your book. Although I have not had time to read it through entirely, all that I have read seems to me charmingly and interestingly written.” In fine condition, with a few creases and slight show-through from writing to opposing sides. Just days earlier, on November 5, Chaliapin had recorded arias from the second and third acts of Rubinstein’s The Demon. RR Auction COA.
