In part (translated): “It seems to me a work of this sort would strike a new note which one might be tempted to risk, if only one could find a director sufficiently intelligent to dare climb out of the rut in which operetta has steeped itself. To what extent the operetta would have to be reworked is something I would not be able to tell you; nor can I tell the theatre where it would have a chance of being performed.
