Carrie Chapman Catt

American suffragist and peace activist (1859–1947) who was one of the leading forces behind the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, ensuring women the right to vote. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, February 10, 1943. Letter to an admirer. In part: “My collection of photographs is exhausted and I have resolved not to have any more taken. After a certain age, this should be the resolve of everybody.” In fine condition, with some brushing to the end of the signature. RR Auction COA.
