Union general (1825–1892) who was among the commanders of the famed Philadelphia Brigade, most notably during McClellan's Peninsular Campaign in the spring and summer of 1862. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by an anonymous studio, signed below the image in black ink, “Wm. W. Burns, Bvt Brig Genl USA,” and also signed again on the reverse.
