Fort was a Union naval surgeon who served on the Port Royal and Sangamon; Clements was a Union naval engineer. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo of Fort and Clements in uniform by Hermanos of Lima, signed on the reverse in black ink, “Yours Dr. W. S. Fort, USN,” and “Mr. J. W. Clements, USN ‘Powhatan.’” In fine condition, with some scattered light toning and ink specks to reverse. RR Auction COA.
