Photographer (1853–1921), known as ‘F. Jay,’ or the ‘Professor,’ who played a major role in documenting the settlement and early history of the great Northwest. Uncommon unsigned 5.25 x 8.5 boudoir-size albumen portrait by Haynes titled at the bottom, “The Grand Teton,” depicting a snowy peak behind a tree-lined valley floor, with a horse team in the foreground. Reverse bears Haynes’s studio information and also bears a “Second” stamp and a stamp of a previous collector. In very good condition, with missing bottom corner tips, some scattered light surface marks and rubbing to image, a bit of edge wear, and some soiling to reverse. RR Auction COA.
