Carell (1899–1972) was a Hungarian-born photographer who settled in Italy in the 1920s, and gained international renown in the realm of portrait photography. Original matte-finish 6.5 x 8.75 silver print portrait of Mussolini, blindstamped in the lower left with a 1934 copyright date by the photographer Ghitta Carell, and signed by Carell in black ink in the lower right.
