American sculptor (1810–1877) who resided in Florence. His works included Andrew Jackson, Millard Fillmore, and Alexander Graham Bell. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by L. Powers of Florence, signed and inscribed on the reverse in black ink, “To Mr. Lurft, from his old friend, Mr. Hart, Florence, May 2, 1872.” Scattered ink flecks to image, uniform toning to reverse, and a pencil notation along right edge, otherwise fine condition.
